Is there an elegant way how to store my dashboards as json in a git repo?

As the dashboards are stored as json (even with a nice diff, when saving changes), I wondered if there is some way (maybe a plugin), to also create a git commit for saved changes and push them to my private github repo, without having to download the file and commit / push it manually.
