This might come under the label of enhancements, would love to have preferences that let me select 'Startup at Login' please.

Totally agree with you! That feature is in the works for version 2.0. Work has slowed on the update, but it'll come out someday.

You probably already know this, but in the meantime, you can manually add it to your login list in the "Users & Groups" section of System Preferences.
