Could you please write down the steps with which you generated the dictionary.db?

It would aid two goals:

  • allow any user to update the file
  • ultimately figure out the modifications to add non-English definitions from JMDict

Those used for the original Yomichan never even mention JMDict, only EDICT, enamdict, and kanjidict. For me that yields a database only about a third the size of yours.

Thanks!

Also, the database returned by yomichan-common is different:

  • "Vocab" is "Terms"
  • Both Kanij and Terms have a "Gloss" table each: Instead of one "Glossary" field with all definitions reduced to one line, there's an index # to look them up individually. Wouldn't be hard to add another column to be filled on creation with an indicator for the origin dictionary, which in turn would make Is there a way to specify which dictionary from which definitions are drawn? #2 trivial to solve.
