At this point, the following constraints have been suggested:
And the experimental data we have (what there is of it) suggests that we need to make this look like an unknown HTTP/1.1 method (or two). I'll shave a byte off what we have and place the burden of justification on those that want to repaint. |
The concern expressed is that "FOO" and "BAR" (or perhaps even "BA") isn't... seemly as the prelude to an IETF protocol. |
lol... sigh... anyone try whether or not a sequence of ascii numeric digits would work? "123" perhaps? |
We're worried about decorum now? I remember this case where a certain crypto library represented its output in something like base32. Unfortunately, the team was asked to remove vowels from the dictionary when an executive was handed a token containing a certain 4-letter word. Speaking of which, I wonder if the owners of '4b.43.5546.static.theplanet.com' know what profanity they are propagating across the Internet in every IP packet they send and receive. |
I'm not worried about decorum as such, more about being unoriginal :) Surely we can come up with something more original... I'd put my kids' names in there, but they're too long. Hmm, my cat's name is "Thor." How about STA and RT ? |
Discussed in SF Interim; Martin to continue to lead the bikeshed committee. |
