I manage all my configuration files using Nix via home-manager. A side effect of this is that the generated config files are read-only. The recently added pride month animation is pretty, but because the hyfetch config file is read-only on my system, it can't disable itself.
Describe the solution you'd like
I'd like an option in the config file to permanently disable the pride month animation, not the current option that runs it once a year.
Describe alternatives you've considered
I thought of two possible alternatives:
Either, I set the pride_month_shown option using Nix to be the current year at build-time. This isn't possible however, as one of Nix's goals is to be reproducible, and that obviously means it's impossible to get the current date/time (unless if I were to add a custom build script that sets the current year in bash, but that'd be a messy solution)
The other option would be to manually update the year. This would work, but it'd be annoying to update every year, so I'd rather not do this.
