Two different players have commented that having the level immediately end on death of the last monster without a chance to pick up gold / chests was not intuitive, and it does bend immersion/reality.
This is how Gloomhaven implements it, and like Gloomhaven, PICOhaven is balanced such that collecting gold before the level ends is an optional additional challenge providing some tactical tension with just fighting the monsters, and it's often very difficult to collect every gold piece depending on your deck build.
But I could consider changing this (and significantly increasing item costs to balance it), whether by awarding the player all gold on scenario wins, allowing the player to play cards until exhausted once all monsters are gone (might be a bit tedious to spend turns walking around just to collect a few gold), or a compromise like running an automatic "Loot 5" action when you beat the last monster. Won't change for now, but tracking based on feedback.
