So I've done quite a few wiidual and wiihdmi installs over the past couple of years but have never encountered the issue I'm facing with a customers wii. Gcvideo works perfectly fine 99% of the time BUT sometimes(1 in 20 chance) when I turn this wii on the audio is extremely loud distorted and crackling in the system menu and if you launch anything. A quick power off and on usually clears the issue.. Sometimes you may have to do this twice.
Ive tested composite video at the same time hdmi is doing weird stuff with the audio and it's perfectly fine there, I've gone over my work and can confirm its not an install issue

Try starting flash update mode multiple times because even though it does not output audio at all starting it probably has the same effect as a power cycle.
sorry for the delay in coming back to you, diagnostic has always been fine when ive checked, it turns out its acctually my LG monitor. ive installed quite a few AVE HDMI's since i reported this and they all have the same issue where sound is distorted. this only happens if its plugged directly into my main monitor. testing it on other screens it works perfectly as expected....so im not to sure why my monitor doesnt like the wii mods....but havent looked any further into it, just remember to test on a different screen now
