Sorry no one has gotten back to you on this.

telegraf version 2.16.3

This is not a valid version of Telegraf. Our latest version is 1.21.3. There is a check when chronyc cannot be found that should print a better error message. It would be nice to see if you are still running into this issue with that version.

If you are able to reproduce please provide what operating systems you are running on.
