Both Flatpak and Snap have the goal of being the universal package manager across Linux distributions.
Flatpak is for graphical apps while Snap also works for CLI apps. I would like to see especially Flatpak supporting IPFS andI find Snap unlikely to support it as it allows only a single repository to be used at once (and I don't see why anyone wouldn't use the official Snap store as they would lose most of the apps).
Issues on getting IPFS available through Flatpak and Snap:
