We have many documents that describe pieces of the elephant, but no document or image that describes the entirety of the beast. We need that thing. It should:

  • Make clear why we're working on the things we're working on
  • Make clear the parts of this problem that are still relatively unknown
  • Describe what we're researching next, and why

Here is a blueprint I started that is helping me sort this out:

Today, I've been working on double-checking that other research documents in this repo are reflected accurately in the blueprint (ie, I haven't left something out). I've now confirmed to my satisfaction that the service blueprint accurately summarizes and reflects our research to date, but I haven't re-organized this repo or [some other solution] to make that clear to casual observers (or, indeed, maybe anyone outside my brain).

However, here's an interim image of the work:

Here's another with more info, though my stitch-together image....is not great.

The interesting part of this image is that most of the painpoints can be boiled down into one objective for the team, I believe. The painpoints are represented by the [pink+▲] bits of sticky notes, and the related candidate objective is on a green sticky note in the bottom-left part of the image.
