We have been calling this project "Discussify", which is a catchy name and is directly associated to what the product is. Just for safety, we already bought the discussify.io domain.

A few things we need to discuss right away and sign off:

  • Name
  • Mission
  • Vision
  • Target audience
  • Brand personality
  • Core Values

We've been operating under the following assumptions in terms of brand:

Discussify

Mission

Pushing the capabilities of the decentralised app ecosystem.

Vision

An openly discussable web.

Target audience

Work needs to be done here, at the moment we're focusing on:

  • Decentralised web aficionados
  • Blockchain aficionados

There might be focus groups we can explore here, further segmenting, we should define specifically:

  • Demographics: age, gender, geographic location.
  • Psychographics: values, tastes, hobbies.

This becomes particularly important for the go to market approach, but it also can have a considerable impact on the brand development we're already doing.

For the current purpose, we have limited time, so let's simplify this, and focus on staying true to the core values, and later we revisit this.

Brand personality

We'll need to adjust the personality based on future assessments of the target audience, in order to align with it.

Core Values

  • Trustworthy
  • Open
  • Decentralised

@diasdavid, we need you to sign off a few things:

  1. Brand name: Discussify.
  2. Reasoning above, around Vision, Mission, Target audience, Brand personality and Core Values.
  3. Using discussify.io as the domain.

Meanwhile, @andreforsousa will be finalising the brand manual, which will also require your sign off.

  1. Brand name: Discussify.

I'm not particularly enthused about the Discussify name. Two concerns:

  • There was an article a while ago that described how you could date projects/startups by their name and put in the timeline the .ly, 'ify, .io names/domains with years and pretty much matched. I'm afraid that it will suggest that Discussify is something in the past for our tech audiences.
  • The second concern is that it doesn't invoke that it is fully p2p and decentralized, missing a great opportunity to get folks excited. I believe that something simple as peer-discuss would be more powerful.
  1. Reasoning above, around Vision, Mission, Target audience, Brand personality and Core Values.

Will come back in more detail at a later stage but right now I do not have any blockers.

  1. Using discussify.io as the domain.

Dependent on the 1.

I see what you mean, and agree with your concerns.

Should we, for the time being, and considering that time is a limitation, keep "Discussify" as a codename, and later on we revisit? Our main concern right now is having a functioning prototype. This won't have a huge impact, and it's probably for the best, allowing us to adjust to the target audience.

We would keep as is for the PoC, but take care of it for the MVP.

Perfect. @andreforsousa, having said so, the brand manual is no longer necessary for the time being, as it will be addressed later on. Moving this to the backlog again.
