When i pin something everything works fine. But when i'm restarting the software it disapears from the pin page in the ipfs-desktop app. It's still pinned to my local ipfs daemon but it's not showing up in the software itself. The system i used is an Macbook.

I have a similar issue, I used the go-ipfs first and pinned some files, and they show up in the command line just fine but both the webui and the desktop app fail to show the pinned files altough the size and the objects show up correctly on the info tab. I also changed the default location for the ipfs from the user folder to a separate volume.

Hello @BurningPixels and @jigzat,

The pinning system on IPFS Desktop is not the same as you can get from the command line. We're storing the list of pinned files on a file called .pinset on MFS Root. If it gets deleted, then IPFS Desktop won't know there are any pins, nor their labels. For more context, see this issue on go-ipfs: ipfs/kubo#4586

Hey @hacdias ,

yeah i know. i found the file. The thing is the file is still there with the content of the items i pinned. For example i open ipfs desktop and pin something i find it in the file. When i restart ipfs desktop the application itself is empty but the file is still there with the content. When i know want to pin something, ipfs desktop is overwriting the file with the content i've added but like i said it overwrite the file so it there is only the content from that session.

I'll try to check out what's happening! It's strange because it never happened before, but just like you said: if there is a file, the app should be showing the files.

I understand the webui is a separate project but in my case the webui included with go-ipfs also failed to show the pinned files, and the UI is totally different from the video demo on the website. Keep the good work ipfs looks great.

Same thing happens to me to. If I pin something with Desktop it's fine, but if I pin something with IPFS and then restart the Desktop client, everything disappears.

Might be unrelated, but I can't seem to at all pin other peoples hashes (ipfs/ipns).

Pinning is a feature we'll be removing on the future versions. We commend you to use the Files section. We haven't released a new version officially yet because we have had some issues building for Windows.

If you're using Windows, we recommend you to build this package from source.
Otherwise, I recommend you to download the newest binary.
