The only public route that fits our need is tagged (e.g. http://api.tumblr.com/v2/tagged?tag=gif), which will work just fine. We can hardcode a handful of tags and pick a random one each time.

New start screen to allow logged out users:

  • The the "Log in" button has little sparkles that fade in an out at sparkly intervals.
