Ability for non owners to add labels to their own issues/PRs #875
Comments
See this highly upvoted SO answer which totally proves my point as otherwise it wouldn't be so massively voted for |
Possible duplicate of: #148 |
@cirosantilli I believe my suggestion extends #148. Should I close and put this as a comment? |
If this is an extension, leave it here, I will link here from my description. Try to make it as clear as possible on title how this proposal differs from that. |
This would be very useful for high-volume repositories, where maintainers use labels such as "rebase needed" or "test fails" or "changes required" when reviewing pull requests. If the PR owner could change a subset of tags as defined by maintainers, it would be much easier to filter out which PRs have been updated and need another round of reviews, and so on. |
Imagine having a set of "public" labels that anyone can add to their issues or pull requests, much like reddit's post flair system.
This would allow for the deeplinking of users into the issue submission page with a label such as "proposed-bug" pre-selected, massively beneficial on large projects.
Full disclosure, I initially came up with this idea whilst figuring out how I could host my site's contact form on github issues, was looking for a way to pre-select a label when the user enters the form.
Thoughts?
