The Citeproc converter for citation displays currently has a default mapping from MODS to the CSL JSON built into the code. In order to make custom mappings for a local MODS implementation, one has to override some of the code found in islandora_scholar/modules/citeproc/includes/converter.inc.
Ideally, there would be a way to configure certain fields for CSL without having to go into the code.

We really want this at FSU as well, the main reason that we decided against using dynamic citations had to do with people disagreeing about things like using the Islandora URL instead of DOI, etc. Some transparency and flexibility in this area would be great.
