German open quotes are not rendered properly #62
Comments
is there any way I can assist in fixing this? |
I think there is already a pull request to fix this, opened 8 years ago #6 |
@mfalconi-perle What is the format and source of the font files which the issue is present in? |
It occurred in the Poppins-regular.woff files downloaded form googlefonts |
When were these files downloaded and where exactly? I cannot see the issue in the current version from Google (v21) or in the source files. What is the application and OS where you observe this? Does the problem exist on your end in the files downloaded from here? |
About 1 year ago, I will check to see if that link fixes it. thank you |
@hyvyys Hey it did end up working with the new file, thank you! much appreciated. |
I noticed that in german languages, the open quotes are being rendered as a single quote mark like
,
when it should be rendered with two like,,
I was able to test this by simply changing the font to roboto and the quotes were being rendered properly. This is in chrome and firefox.sample with Poppins as Font family
same sample with Roboto as the font family
As you can see in the first example the open quote is not being rendered as it should based on german language standards.
