An independent assessment is a reference. These are requested for all exercise types and the variation is who is asked and when they are asked to provide these references in the process.
There are five different user groups who play a part in Independent Assessments:
(i) Candidate: the candidate is not able to see the assessment. The only interaction the candidate has with this is providing the details of their nominated assessors when they apply. This has already been built into the application form.
(ii) Admin: the admin (staff) needs to be able to (a) securely send requests to all the assessors, (b) monitor the assessments which are returned, (c) send reminders to assessors who have not completed them and (d) print them for Commissioners and Panellists.
(iii) Assessor: the assessor needs to be able to access a secure link to write the assessment. They need the candidate name and the exercise for this. They will need clear word limits, be able to format what they write and have the ability to save the assessment and continue it later from the same link.
(iv) Panellist: the panellist should be able to get onto the platform and view the independent assessment as part of the process of grading the candidate.
(v) Commissioner: the Commissioners view a printed copy of the Assessments in a paper when deciding which candidates to recommend.
