While trying to init a remote repository via scp we really wasted some hours after we found in quickstart https://attic-backup.org/quickstart.html#remote-repositories the remark: "when Attic is installed on the remote host".

Can you please add this line to the reference https://attic-backup.org/usage.html#attic-init at usage sections too? Its the first place I'd expect such a important detail, since other backup solutions are working via scp well and one does not expect this need.

(Overall a great tool btw.!)

thank Jens

@jensens the current docs tell that it is either (ssh + attic on remote side) OR (remote mounted via sshfs - then no attic is required on remote). Not sure why you are referring to scp.

wow, thats been a while. Agree, scp is the wrong term, I think i was a bit confused after all the trials.

The valid point is: in the usage section there is no word about the need of attic on remote side. So we failed to get it running unless we read further to quickstart. A short note about that need at usage would make it easier to understand and to get it up and running.
