Cannot finish setting up remote in gui

The problem

When I add a remote inside the web gui, I briefly get a message flashing by saying "A page will open for you with the authentication for your drive. This modal will automatically dismiss upon successful creation". Then I'm just returned to the list of remotes. Nothing pops up and I cannot configure the remaining settings for the remote. I've tried 4 different providers, nothing works because I cannot get to the final screen of configuration 🤷‍♀️

Temp solution is this:
Download rclone for windows. Run this:
Rclone config
Add desired remotes
Rclone config display
Copy config into rclone_config in config folder on HA.
