dtool-gui-tk:

  • uses json-schema metadata templates to manage the metadata creation process
  • the json-schema metadata templates do not allow nested structures
  • stores metadata items in both the readme and as annotations

dtool-create:

  • uses YAML templates to manage the metadata creation process
  • YAML template allow for the creation of nested metadata items
  • metadata is only stored in the readme
  • annotations are created using dtool-annotation; annotations are not reflected in the readme

Harmonize the way that these two manage the metadata creation process.
