Sorry to bother... I can normally set up containers by myself without any help but this one is not going as well :)

First, thank you for the container. Second, after setting it all up, it seems that the app does not display files or folders under the data directory/Storage.

My container is installed on Docker on a Synology NAS if it matters. Here is my deployment script:

docker run -d --name=mkvtoolnix \ -p 6800:5800 \ -e TZ=America/New_York \ -e KEEP_APP_RUNNING=1 \ -v /volume1/docker/mkvtoolnix:/config:rw \ -v /volume2/Store/Staging/DownloadStation:/storage:rw \ jlesage/mkvtoolnix

I have checked the permissions and even used different folders... still not good.

However if I connect to the container shell, I can list the contents of the folder.

Any ideas? Thank you.

BTW, I forgot to mention. If I place my files in the CONFIG folder, the app sees them no problem... so I assume it is a rights issue?

Can I add more than one folder to the app? I have my movies on different volumes than my download folder so I would love to pick up the movies from one folder and re-mux them to a different volume/folder on my Synology NAS :)

Right now I only know from the documentation that I can add a single mapping to /storage. But I would like to have more mappings if possible.

You probably need to set the USER_ID and GROUP_ID environment variables. Else, the user under which the container is running might not have the permission to access files on your Synology. See https://github.com/jlesage/docker-mkvtoolnix#usergroup-ids

You can map any folder from the Synology to the container. Just use another -v parameter for each mapping. For example, you could use something like this: -v /volume1/Movies:/storage/Movies -v /volume1/Music:/storage/Music

Thank you so much... OK, that was it. The UID and GID where set to 1000 and 1000 and I had set the PUID and GUID variables which were not being observed.

so I removed PUID and PGID and replaced USER and GROUP variables with my ID and GRP and that shows the files. YAY!!!

I am also goign to try the suggestion for mounting other volumes... be right back :)

Question: Is there a guide for building my own flavor of the container? I would love to have a Web Browser also so I don;t have to use the clipboard to copy paste text back and forth. I use IMDB and TVDB to get details to build the MKVs.

I installed MKVToolNix on my Synology NAS using the following command:

sudo docker run -d --name=MKVToolNix_GUI -p 6900:6900 -e PUID=1026 -e PGID=100 -v /volume1/docker/mkvtoolnix/config:/config:rw -v /volume1/docker/mkvtoolnix/MKVToolNix:/storage:rw jlesage/mkvtoolnix

The container starts up but I can't access the GUI. A few months earlier I had installed JDownloader from this link:

With JDownloader I have no problems accessing the GUI. Unfortunately, I see that both containers use the same port 5800 in the GUI access instructions.

What should I change to access MKVToolNix on a different port?

The port 6900 that I entered in the command does not lead to the MKVToolNix GUI.

The port on the container side should remain 5800. Thus, you have to use -p 6900:5800.
