Raw image URL changed... again #261
Comments
For the foreseeable future? Is this intended as a temporary change then? |
I have absolutely no idea, though I do hope that raw urls do become available again. |
Well, lets see. I'll update the code if someone figures out how to access them now. Personally, I think they've done it on purpose and it will not come back. It was never officially announced, and always looked like some kind of hack/neglection/unfinished features, thus I'm guessing they don't care at all. |
If a solution is figured out, will TumblThree be able to upgrade all these 1280 sized images to raw automatically? |
so uh, I noticed something odd about raw images. They seem to load up for like, a split second, and then you're redirected to that denied page. I swear it's like you get a split second glimpse, and I tested this with images I never loaded up before. I'm not sure at all if this is helpful information. |
Has anyone made any progress with this at all? Is there anything in the official API that might help out? https://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/api/v2 |
Well, it was never really part of the API doc in the first place.. |
_raw URLs were never even officially a thing, and I don't think Tumblr was particularly pleased to have people find out about them and start downloading large image files. Costs bandwidth, y'know. I will be surprised if they are ever exposed again. |
Tumblr could use some good press, and could benefit by exhibiting some goodwill.. |
I'm still not convinced it's impossible after the change. You do get to see a glimpse of the image before you get the XML error page. There may be a way to extract the image data without the file headers. |
Uh, what? |
You can download Raw images if you go to the settings of your profile and click on "export", it will download a zip file that contains everything in your blog (including reblogs) but it will take some days to process. |
Yeah, but you can only "export" your own blog. |
I downloaded my own blog using Tumblr's built in export can can confirm reblogs ARE in the full/raw resolution. However all filenames are based on the post ID instead of the file ID so you will have duplicates for anything you've reblogged multiple times. |
I'm getting screens with:
"AccessDeniedAccess Denied" (and then a bunch of characters)
when I try the "data" and "raw" trick to get the source file resolution. Honestly, have no idea what to do now.
