Google isn't working for me; are you aware of something like your plugin for VSCode?

I second this question. Just came across nice-index and realized I need it in my life.

Afraid not - I too switched to VS Code and my solution is just to try and keep less things open (VS Code naturally pushes me in this direction by not squashing tabs too much, so I kinda have to keep the count small enough to be able to read the enclosing directory)
