Win32 consoles have a feature called Quick Edit, that allows the mouse to be used to select/copy/paste text without having to right click. The mode is enabled by default on some versions of Windows, not on others (IIRC they turned it on in Windows Vista but off again in Windows 7 because occasional console applications use mouse input).
Presently, Node indiscriminately turns off Quick Edit mode, even if it was turned on to start off with. I believe this is unnecessary; it's just collateral damage when setting up the console for raw I/O.
