adding the default code to url links

I've noticed that although the store code is hidden, the links on my page have the store code in its url. For example I'm in the page mydomain.com/contact-us ( before it was mydomain.com/default/contact-us.html) when I click to contact by phone, the url is mydomain.com/default/phone.html and gives me a 404 error.
