I'd like to introduce a Community Management Mentoring Program to support the Community Management efforts in JSON Schema and enable contributors to work as CM in the future.

The Community Management Mentoring Program [Pilot] is designed to bring the capacity needed to grow the JSON Schema Community and its long-term sustainability and positive impact on the industry.

Program Overview

One OS community manager intern will be selected by the JSON Schema community managers. A CM Mentor will support the work of the CM intern and the CM intern will work part-time for six months with the community managers Team. The exact number of working hours will be mutually agreed upon between the intern and the community managers Team. The selected OS community management interns will be considered volunteers and, subject to funding, may receive a small stipend depending on support received from financial contributors through Open Collective.

Program Timeline

  • October 2024: Program launch
  • November - December 2024: Application period
  • December 2024: Candidate selection
  • November 2024: CM intern enablement
  • November - April 2025: CM intern will work closely with the CM mentor

Why Apply?

  • Acquire or strengthen in-demand skills in the tech industry
  • Contribute to innovative solutions addressing the world’s most pressing issues
  • Deepen connections in open source communities

Responsibilities

  • Community moderation & engagement.
  • Ensure contributors' recognition.
  • Code of Conduct enforcement.
  • JSON Schema Ambassadors engagement.
  • Help with triage in the Community repository.
  • Communications within Slack.
  • Support communication efforts on social media.
  • Work closely with CM to define new Community Programs.

Training Path

Traning resources

This is a Pilot and there will be no application period. For this experience, @benjagm will work as a mentor with onyedikachi hope as a mentee, and depending on the results this will turn into a real program.
