Menus below buttons in notebook

I am seeing the menus below the toolbar buttons in master and 4.2. I have cleared my cache. Is there something else I need to clear?

Any custom css? I can't seem to reproduce this with 4.2 or master on Safari or Chrome. Do you see it in a private/incognito window?

If you are installing from a repo, to clear js/css and start from scratch:

git clean -xfd
pip install -e .

Hmm, I did all this and still see it on Chrome and Safari. And in an incognito window.

But I had lots of nbextensions installed - once I disabled all of them the problem went away. Might be widgets related @jdfreder @SylvainCorlay
