This is now the official issue to contain feedback from users.

For users who have been using Customizer from this 'old stable' repository, you can still give feedback by leaving a comment at below (sign in, then click this link to jump to the bottom).

Last revised: 2016.09.03

This is part of "Documentation clean up" that had finished five months ago. I am supposed to stop accepting responses and remove link to the form and compile the results, but I had forgotten this all together until today. I shall compile the results and update here by early September 2016.

Known tasks (Done 5/5)

  1. ok In GitHub Wiki sidebar: Rename the link "user feedback form" with "user feedback results", then replace link to this issue;
  2. ok In GitHub Wiki > Supported images and Supported host systems pages: Replace link to "user feedback form" with plain text "refer to user feedback results (see sidebar)" instead;
  3. ok In GitHub Wiki > Contribute page: Remove link from "submit feedback", then amend text from "you are encouraged to submit feedback" to just plain text "For experienced users, you can leave a comment in user feedback results (see sidebar)";
  4. ok Remove any link to the feedback form found in some issues;
  5. ok In this issue, update the results at below section

Following this, in the future, there is only one place to update the link: GitHub Wiki sidebar.

The availability

The user feedback form is created using Google Forms. It is the second revision of form that has been published in early March 2015. The form is accepting responses until end of August 2016, this month. The form can be accessed from GitHub Wiki sidebar or at this direct link (now closed).

The results (For 2015/2016)

The full results can be viewed at this direct link to analytics, despite the form itself has been closed.

The summarized information of overall results:

  • Total participants ................. 33, of which 10 proceeded to fill in the form
  • Total unique participants ..... less than 5 (estimated guess including myself)

The summarized information of 10 participants:

  • Working branch ................... master [9], gambas3 [1]
  • Working architecture ........... 32-bit [9], 64-bit [1]
  • Working host system ........... Ubuntu/official flavours [7], Debian [1], Linux Mint [1], Others [1]
  • Working host environment .. Xfce [8], KDE [1], Cinnamon [1]
  • Working ISO images ........... Ubuntu Mini Remix [7], Ubuntu/flavours [2], Elementary OS [1]
  • Working interface ................ Graphical [9], Command line [1]

Noted comments regarding features that "works but" (copied AS IT IS with typos):

  • Entry dated 2015/11/05:

    Not sure if i broke something in the image, but it does not work in QUEM (does not boot).

  • Entry dated 2016/01/20:

    Install qemu-system on Debian. Keyboard keys don't work after successful boot into command prompt (likely QEMU issue).

  • Entry dated 2016/08/26:

    Haven't throughly tested but surprise; It is possible for old stable to rebuild ISO image of 16.04 release!

Most unique experience of remastering:

  • one participant had installed Customizer on Ubuntu 64-bit host system and successfully remastered Ubuntu Mini Remix 32-bit ISO image, with core features mostly work "perfect"
  • one participant had installed Customizer on Debian 32-bit host system and remastered Ubuntu MIni Remix 32-bit ISO image, with core features mostly work "perfect"

Disclaimers

  • The feedback form does not record "who" had actually submitted the entries; But @clearkimura could make an estimated guess after identifying his own submissions based on provided details of host system and noted comment
  • The feedback form does not record accurate Ubuntu release information, because this will make the form complicated; The first version of feedback form had attempted this and was tedious to fill

Above all, thank you to all participants who had spent some minutes to fill in the form.

This issue shall be closed, because "old stable" will be deprecated.

Future feedback shall be submit to: https://github.com/kamilion/customizer

P.S.: The official fork was removed, then "old stable" repo will be transferred to fork maintainer.
