Hi Benjamin.
I saw you are still working on this great tool. Thanks for publishing it :-)
On our club homepage i would like to implent the tool, but i am struggling...My competence is good enough to install a wordpress site, but not more...
Would it be possible to write some more details for the installation on a webserver?

  • Using xampp on win10
  • Upload files to the html directory
  • Change properties to read +writing
  • Open Web Browser 127.0.0.1/dudle/Index.cgi
  • Error….

Thanks a lot + br

Ole

Some information on Docker is available at https://docs.docker.com/desktop/install/windows-install/
You would probably want to get cloud hosting and a virtual machine as shared hosting that is often used for Wordpress is not as easy to configure. A local install on your own machine to test that the steps work will be ok. On the cloud Linux is usually cheaper to use than Windows. Some hosting providers include:
https://www.hetzner.com/
https://www.oracle.com/cloud/
https://aws.amazon.com/
https://www.ovhcloud.com
https://www.alibabacloud.com/
https://cloud.google.com/
https://upcloud.com/
https://www.digitalocean.com/

Depending on your security and privacy requirements, you might also consider managed hosting, where someone can install and run it for you, for example:
https://www.heroku.com/
https://www.rackspace.com/managed-hosting

Finally, Wordpress has a number of extensions for polls, though am unaware of any with the privacy preserving features in this application. A further option with polls (though not with the privacy preserving features available in Dud-poll) that may be helpful for a club is Loomio which is also written in Ruby and is available at https://github.com/loomio/loomio
