It should be indistinguishable from opening a new tab without the extension, so it shouldn't lose focus on the address bar.

@kemayo did you file a bug with Mozilla for this? maybe they let tabs.update() support changing the container.

I actually think this one is me doing something wrong, due to unfamiliarity. Some quirk of the open-new-tab stuff I’m missing. If this turns out to be wrong, I’ll file a bug.

I’m on my phone right now, but I’m pretty sure I saw an open bug for switching the container for an existing tab. It’s kinda complicated, so I can understand why it’s not done yet. (It’d have to trigger a reload of the page, if nothing else, so it’s fairly indistinguishable from the close-reopen you see me doing.)

I actually see this as a very important issue: Just pressing "Ctrl+T" and start typing is my usual workflow. Pressing F6 to focus the location bar does not always work, so I have to manually click on the location bar.
