kivy 1.8 (testing) UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte... #129

Using kivy 1.8, the kivy catalog is throwing this error;

UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xe2 in position 0: ordinal not in range(128)

it's a bug of kivy or the catalog?
