Give me some time and let me prepare a Google doc with suggestions for alternatives for this annotation
UPDATE: I won't... This is messy. First need to understand if we still need to support this kind of setup. Otherwise it is a wasted effort.

I use this, we have multiple kafka clusters and need the ability to connect to different clusters
