I actually found the culprit, but I don't know if my fix is the best. Also, when using this, the fonts don't seem to apply, even if they parse properly (I printed out all of the useful stuff, and fonts were being set properly).

The fix is here: Kodehawa@1e35a99

I don't know if it's applicable or you'd implement it, but I'll leave it here so you can take a look at it.
If you feel like that'd be a decent fix, I can PR it.

Edit: They do seem to apply on custom.styles, but don't work on the Steam client
