  • Laravel Version: 5.4.6
  • PHP Version: 7.0.12

Description:

I just upgraded from L5.3 to L5.4 and I'm getting the following error in one of my validators:

BadMethodCallException: Method [mergeRules] does not exist.
in /Illuminate/Validation/Validator.php

I noticed this method was removed and the only method that seems to do its job is "addRules", but is a protected method.

Any ideas on how could I handle the change?
