Before opening a feature request

  • I checked the next branch to see if the feature has already been implemented
  • I searched existing reports to see if it is already requested.

What is the user problem or growth opportunity you want to see solved?

Something like FZF where we can run a command to preview something or {}.

I scanned through the wiki and did not find something similar. Thank you.

How do you know that this problem exists today? Why is this important?

It would be nice if we can somehow perform some command on hover select.

Example
I have a bunch of waybar styles. I want to preview the style in real-time without applying the styles.

Who will benefit from it?

Anyone who uses FZF will find the rofi -dmenu more useful.

Rofi version (rofi -v)

Version: 1.7.5+wayland3

@kRHYME7 it looks like this has been implemented by davatorium#2053 in upstream?

It was also merged to the wayland's branch tip, please try and see if it fits your use case.

Otherwise, you can reopen this issue.

Thanks @lbonn I will try to experiment on this and how wayland handle some stuff.
