Trying to re-run the script to update the installed version of Tailscale over Tailscale SSH is not safe or is ineffective - the shell process is locked in a chroot jail and can't modify the parts of the system it needs to.

Things to look into:

  • Normal SSH shells are not jailed - what is that doing differently?
  • systemd-run
