following a discussion with @toddringler :

it would be nice to have a internal representation of the geometric features used for defining spatial integrals (horizontal averages, flux across section).

this internal representation could be defined from / exported to geojson files.

Dear Julien — Within the LANL ocean modeling team I have discussed the idea of supporting production of the JRA-55 dataset by using the geometric_features repository to describe liquid and solid runoff. Everyone is very supportive of the idea. What do you think is the next step? Cheers, Todd
