according to esp8266/Arduino#5257
@TD-er maybe we need to recheck some places that may fail

If you browse through that thread you see a PR from me referring to it. ;)
But I agree we may need to have a second look at it.

Found it a moment after created this issue ;)
For now I don't understand why they change client behavior.
