There is no clear path to join a team ... and we have to guess which team member is the administrator

We could add a "request invite" button, but we'd need to throttle requests to prevent spam.

In the meantime you can put instructions on how to join a team in its profile statement.

which team member is the administrator

A team doesn't have an administrator, all members are equal.

I want to raise my voice in favor of this, as I wanted to claim a symbolic cent for my translations and did not figured out how.

@Vejvej, if you mean for becoming a part of the Liberapay team, creating an onboarding ticket at https://github.com/liberapay/salon/issues is a good way to show your interest in being added. For examples, see https://github.com/liberapay/salon/labels/Onboarding.
