Steps to reproduce

  1. Click on a video.
  2. Video loads for some seconds then stops.

Sometimes works (rare)

Expected behavior

Video always playing.

Actual behavior

Any video just loads for a few seconds and then stops loading. No actual playback.

LibreTube version

0.25.1

Android version

Android 14 and Android 11 (tested on two phones)

Other details

No instances, just errors with "Could not fetch available instances."

I have "Disable Piped proxy" turned on (does not work without)

I also have "Local stream extraction" turned on.

LibreTube seems to be getting worser over time.

(Happy New Year, btw)

Happy New Year 🌲
The old http 403 error keeps coming back. It means bot error in the middle of the video

And also I can't download any video, just "No video" and "No audio" is selected, no other option. The captions seems to be working. Clicking download just says "Nothing selected!".

I am using the F-Droid build. This is what I started with, I have a lot of videos downloaded. And did not remove it for the GitHub version.
I can't update because of how the packages are signed, I think.

Enabling DASH (and local streams extraction) in the settings would certainly fix this issue (at least it does for me), but DASH support for local stream extraction has been added in 0.25.2, so you would need to update.

The playback issues itself are probably not related to LibreTube itself, but to YouTube's continuous changes that are breaking the NewPipeExtractor. A new NewPipeExtractor update could also fix things here, which will be done with the next LibreTube update.

This is related to the new http 403 error (potoken) in NewPipe Extractor. There should be a potoken method for the iOS client. They know and hopefully will fix it
