Drayage Considerations

In talking with brokers the past week, they mostly make the best of bad TMS workarounds. The minimum functionality that a LoadPartner TMS Drayage module would need is:

• Split Loads: Being able to invoice/close just the drayage/warehouse part of the load while the OTR part is open can be accomplished through split loads. For example, Load 123 could be split into Load-123A (Drayage), Load-123B (Warehouse), Load-123C (OTR). Split loads should also help with visibility in getting a container back to transloader/port.
• Carrier Types: Building on the idea of split loads would be carrier types. This should probably be a customizable list, but at a minimum drayage, warehouse, transloader, OTR/TL, LTL.

What are the differences between these types of carriers? Are they effectively the same for the sake of carrier management? I'm pretty sure LTL is atleast unique in carrier reqs (being less strict)
