Mapbox migration guide

The readme says:

The library's initial versions (1.x) were intended to be a drop-in replacement for the Mapbox’s OSS version (1.x) with additional functionality, but have evolved a lot since then.

Would be good to know whats changed compared to Mapbox v2 or v3 preferably. An updated migration would be ideal but any pointers would be helpful.

We are not tracking the changes in Mapbox as we do not want to infringe copy right laws due to their license change (back then).
It has been more than 4 years since the fork and a lot has changed since then, as can be seen in our changelog.
If you would like to open a PR to improve this guide, you are more than welcome to do so.
I think someone that actually did the migration recently can share valuable information that I, as a maintainer of maplibre, simply do not have...
