When messaging in in a gchat space using Matrix, I select a person as @<name> (googlechat) hoping that the person would get notified in the official gchat client. But what appears in the official gchat client is just a plain text <name> (googlechat) and the person is not notified.

Seems to be working fine for me, matrix mentions turns into mentions on google chat (with the caveat that the name suffix isn't removed)

I'm using Element version: 1.10.4, Olm version: 3.2.8. Isn't there a way to tweak the client or server to make it work?

What does the message look like on Matrix? The event source might also be relevant

I've updated the previous comment to include gchat screenshots.

This bug still prevents me from moving over from GChat official client to Matrix. Since it seems that I'm the only one facing it I wonder if this is some kind of an account issue. Maybe clearing all data related to my account on the Matrix side would help.

I haven't been able to reproduce it. There might be something weird about the Matrix event source you're sending, or google might just not want you to mention those people the way mentions usually work in the api

I tried unlinking the GChat bridge so that's what I tried but the googlechat bridge bot hasn't been responding to me. I had tried sending "unbridge" or "logout" to it and it was not responding. Then I left the private conversation room and started a new one with the bot. Still, it is not responding in any way.
I'm now trying to figure out how to get around the issue.
