I would like to propose an improvement to the existing "Back to Page" functionality for navigating PDFs.
Feature Description
The current "Back to Page" feature, which allows users to return to the original location after following a hyperlink within a PDF, is highly useful. However, the time limit during which the "Back to Page" option remains visible (a few seconds) can be restrictive. It prevents users from comfortably exploring the linked content at their own pace and then returning to their original location.
Proposed Enhancement
Persistent Access: Allow the "Back to Page" option to remain accessible indefinitely until the user manually navigates away or selects another action.
Navigation Buttons: Optionally, integrate dedicated "Back" and "Forward" buttons for intuitive access without time constraints.
Benefits
Enables users to engage with linked content more effectively without worrying about time limits.
Enhances the overall reading experience, particularly for academic papers, eBooks, and technical documents with frequent hyperlinks.
Aligns with user expectations of modern PDF readers, further improving the usability of rm-hacks.
Community Impact
This improvement would benefit all users who rely on rm-hacks for PDF navigation, making the feature more user-friendly and versatile.
Thank you for considering this suggestion. I believe this enhancement will significantly improve the user experience, and I’m happy to assist with testing or provide further details if needed.
