This is a powerfull and usefull plugin, but works only with commas. Most CSV files I have are using semicolons. It would be super if the field character could be selected or defined.

Hello, @der-sigi ! Thank you for the feedback! I don't have time currently to work on the plugin, so if you want - you can add the functionality yourself, I can even transfer the repository to you in that case. Let me know if you are interested. BTW "Rainbow CSV" plugin is also available for other editors and IDEs - Vim, VSCode, Sublime, Atom where it has much more advanced functionality.
