[Feature Request] Explorer Tags for Group by #11417
Comments
Honestly, file labels are pretty close to what you're asking here. The problem is that labels can only be given to a finite number of file types (mostly mp3s, images, Office files, and so on). If only labels would work on more/all file types, there is no need to create something new. |
While that is a valid point, there is nothing of that sort for directories. It would be really great to have a universal tagging/labelling feature. |
True. |
Yes, this is quite similar to the above-mentioned issues. But #150 covers it all, as mentioned by him, this goes beyond colour-coding folders. Storing the metadata in the desktop.ini files look like a great way to keep track of the tags. This will ultimately provide more decorum in fields of classifying items, irrelevant of their types. |
Well, I checked Foldermarker. That's not it. It's just putting predefined icons for the folder through the context menu, which is an extremely basic approach. It doesn't serve the purpose of tagging which brings in various management and organizational features. |
I feel like this should be labeled is included with #150 |
The group by feature in windows is quite restrictive, considering a plethora of group by options for files and folder which are of no importance/use to most of the users.
I'd like to propose a feature wherein, you can add a particular tag to a file/directory and then use the group by option in a directory with those tags.
Example:
Here's a mockup of how the properties may look:
