Grey screen during install #14124
Comments
Sure, see attached. However, as I logged in to my PC I noticed there was a new update available: PowerToysReport_2021-10-30-20-27-35.zip *EDIT |
Sorry I edited my previous message rather than replying to let you know how the update went. "For your information - The update to v0.49.1 installed perfectly." |
So did the 'update' fix this or was it just a lucky strike? :P |
I assume lucky strike here. We're currently trying to rework the installer and then need to re-evaluate whether these and other issues are fixed, since they seem quite random. |
I just had this following the latest PowerToys update. My three screens all seemed grey this morning, and then I noticed a little quadrant/quarter circle in the top left that was white. My mouse cursor was bright white but all other windows were "dimmed". I had no idea what was causing this so ended up searching Task Manager, killing a few processes, and closing apps. I got to PowerToys and closed the app and my screens suddenly went back to normal - nice and bright and vivid - and the little white quadrant top left disappeared. Now I need to go and start up all the various apps I closed down before I discovered PowerToys had done it... [Note that this was after installing the latest update (0.60.0). I upgraded over the weekend right before putting the PC to sleep, and noticed everything seemed grey this morning when I woke it up.] |
Closing this issue, since the installer has been updated a lot since then. @rb126 , please open a new issue if it happens again. |
I was prompted that there was an update . Started then crashed file explorer leaving me with a blank grey screen in Windows 10. I manually started file explorer again via task manager only to have it start and stop continually alternating between a grey screen and the desktop.
For clarity I have all Windows and Feature Updates installed.
I had to manually reboot but since then it’s behaving.
