Open App/Program on a Specific Monitor #25703
Comments
+1 -- I would like this feature! Use Case 1 for meSometimes I am working with a glitchy situation (defective monitor settings, driver glitch) in a multimonitor situation. Where Windows thinks it's multimonitor but one of the monitors is blanked out. (doesn't show up properly). Everytime I try to launch software sometimes it stubbornly tries to open on the malfunctioning monitor, and sometimes it's a driver-reset app or a Settings window that I'm trying to open but I can't. Catch-22 By having this, I can force opening certain things on the working monitor and fix the problem. Use Case 2 for meIn addition, it will also be useful for clutter management (e.g. a play monitor and a work monitor). Sometimes the icon I want to launch is on the other desktop, but I don't want to launch it there. If I can right click on any icon (desktop, explorer, taskbar, etc) and select "Open on Monitor >" submenu, that would be absolutely fantastic. |
I totally agree with this request. This sort of is the standard behavior of a modern Mac with multiple monitors:

Description of the new feature / enhancement
One of my biggest pet peeves with Windows (going back years) is when I use the Start Menu on a particular monitor and the app/program opens on a different monitor (usually where it was last open). I would love to be able to control where apps open. Some apps I like to have in specific places at all times, while others I want to open on a monitor that I'm not currently using for something else. There is no good way to manage that natively with Windows that I'm aware of.
Scenario when this would be used?
Any time I open an app using the Start Menu
Supporting information
There isn't a lot of supporting information, but there is an app called Display Fusion that sort of works with this issue in their Window Position Profiles, but I'll admit I haven't tried it as the software has a ton of junk I'll never use and seems like bloatware.
