When browsing through Windows Explorer, right-clicking on a file or folder will show a submenu allowing a colour label and / or category to be assigned to it. This will then either change the colour of the icon (or add a label to it) to enable it to be visually identified.
Scenario when this would be used?
I've folders with hundreds of additional folders in it and, when scrolling in list view, having all folders the same colour makes it difficult to find the folder I need. Having it so there is some visual distinction between folders would make it far quicker to find the folder (or file) I need.
Supporting information
This would be a Windows implementation of a Mac OS feature, which allows files or folders to be assigned a category colour (which can be individually customised) - please see that OS for an idea of how it would work.
