  • Your Windows build number:
    Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19041.21]

  • What you're doing and what's happening:
I am trying to convert to Ubuntu WSL 2 from version 1:
    image
I have switched back and forth a couple of times from version, and it has worked each time up till now.

  • What's wrong / what should be happening instead:
The console just hangs and nothing happens. Previously it only took a couple of minutes, while now I have let the command run for 2 hours and nothing has happened, even though the size of my WSL distro didn't change in size at all (it's at 7.x GB currently, so not that large imo).
I know it's similar to WSL2 Conversion failed #4102, but the difference here is that I don't get any error message whatsoever.
I have tried clearing my /tmp folder, but without success.

What I have not yet tried is resetting my WSL distro, as that requires me to reinstall all my apps. Not impossible, just quite some work and I prefer not to of course.

Also, I don't see any process in my task manager using the CPU or disk at all, which seems odd to me. If I look in the AppData\Local\Packages\Canonical...\LocalState folder, I see ext4.vhdx there, but according to Windows File Explorer it stays at a constant 37MB. I don't know whether that is actually reliable info, but I thought it put it in here anyways.

EDIT:
Again, no clue if this has anything to do with it, but I did try this solution for another bug: #4150 (comment).

Alright I managed to fix it by resetting my Ubuntu distro.
